More on Carolina Football

NC SPIN panelist and Talk of the Town host Henry Hinton adds to the Carolina football discussion:

I have a great deal of respect for Dick Baddour and realize he is serving several contituencies here but I have to admit I am surprised that he is showing any type of resistance at this point.  The reputation of the university is at stake and it seems to me that going public with any type of negative response to the NCAA ruling puts Baddour in the position of looking like he is getting soft on this.

Getting through this mess with as little additional publicity as possible would seem to be the prudent course.  One thing I've learned over the years, however, is that we usually do not get the entire story even though most media folks think they know it all.  Baddour has been dealing with a lot of issues and up til now has seemed to be above reproach and totally professional.  Making the appeal and commenting on the harshness of the penalty does not help his case.

This does seem to be out of character for Baddour. It appears someone is pushing his buttons that will lead to his dismissal as AD.
